Dear Wendy

For Thomas Vinterberg's Dear Wendy, the parking lot in Filmbyen, DK, was dressed as an american mid-west
mining town. In a couple of shots, the camera's position revealed the danish architecture in the background.
My job was to bring filmbyen to the Mid West. (Mouse over to see plates).

I made 2 scenes from almost the same camera angle, at 2 different times of day. I found photographic references in
books and on the internet, looking for ghost towns to get the right feeling. I started out with matte where you see the most.

The second matte was a later time of day and a lower camera angle, so I tried to roughly calculate how much
you would see of the houses and the far mountain. I added the hi-lights and did some colour correction to adjust
the time of day. And of course repainted the telephone wires.
